Still eating from the pantry and a menu plan.

We are back from a very quick visit to see my daughter’s new home and, of course, to see my sweet grandson. We had a great time, and it was great to get away, even if it was only for a couple of days.  Here is his updated 10 month pic:

I wasn’t sure if I needed to food shop when I got back, but thankfully, after looking at what I still have in my freezer and pantry, I have plenty of stuff to make this week’s menu.  If I do go to the grocery store, it will just be for fresh produce.

chef piggyHere is this week’s menu:

Monday:  Sweet and Sour Chicken with Fried Rice

Tuesday:  Breakfast for dinner:  Pancakes, waffles, eggs and bacon, orange juice and watermelon

Wednesday:  Barbecued Chicken, macaroni salad, veggies

Thursday:  Grilled pork chops, baked potatoes, tossed salad

Friday:  Leftovers.   (This worked out very well last week, as there was enough leftovers from Monday –  Thursday’s meals to make another meal for each of us.  I plan on doing it again.)

Saturday:  Cheeseburgers, fruit salad, green beans and french fries

Sunday:  Eating at my daughter’s house to celebrate my future son-in-law’s birthday! (Woo hoo! I don’t have to cook! :) )

I’m hoping I can make next week’s meals from my stash too.   So far this month, I’ve spent $39.60 on groceries, and it would be nice to keep it low to make up for my overspending in July.  I think know I can do it.

What’s on your menu for the week?

  1. Hi! Would you mind if I share your blog with my myspace group?

There’s a lot of people that I think would really
appreciate your content. Please let me know.
    Many thanks

    super cute!

  3. You still must have a pretty good stash of food because that menu looks really good.

  4. Looks like you’re doing great with the food budget! We’re flying to Portland (and then the beach) on Tuesday, so we tried to use this weekend’s standard grocery trip to get: toilet paper, paper towels, baggies, & coffee. All of which we were running low on, but always breaks the budget on a normal month. We’re going to the beach with my sister, her kids & my parents, so it should be fun. We have a pretty mellow menu plan picked out: crab cakes, burgers, hot dogs, and one dinner from the freezer at our vacation house. Can’t remember what all is there, but it will definitely be enough for a dinner. ;-)

    • That sounds like a lot of fun! We’ve pretty much done nothing this summer, and I long for some beach/lake trip. Maybe next year. It sounds like a delicious menu, and you should have a great time with your family!
