A little of this, a little of that.

Lots on my mind,  so this post will be a miscellany one (in no particular order):

I am loving my new FitBit.  I am now painfully aware of how sedentary I was over the last 4 months.  10,000 steps should be the norm to ‘maintain’ weight.  Ha!  Over the weekend I made it easily (of course, after a 7 and 5 mile walk….)  Yesterday with the weather not so good? 5,000 steps. :(  What’s nice is that MyFitnessPal syncs with the Fitbit, so I have all of my bases covered to hopefully lose some weight.

My recently ‘engaged’ daughter found a wedding reception venue over the weekend, and a possible wedding date (still waiting on the church)!  I have exactly one year to lose weight. ;)

I’ve been watching the weather channel and my heart goes out to all of those suffering through the massive tornadoes.  I’m wondering what I would do if my house were to be  completely demolished in a matter of minutes.  What objects would I be most upset over losing.  As long as my family were okay, I would be too.  It’s really only ‘stuff’.

We’re going to a retirement seminar this evening given by Edelman Financial Services.  I bought the book, The Truth About Retirement Plans and IRA’s, by Ric Edelman, which makes the seminar free.  I’ve read a bit of the book, and have found it very informative.  I’m anxious to hear more at the seminar.  Who would have thought I would be so excited over retirement planning????

My kids gave my husband and I a “weekend away” as a Christmas present.  We are looking forward to getting away soon before life gets really crazy.

Only 2 more months before my daughter graduates from high school.  There will be a party with lots of relatives and friends.  I have to start planning and preparing now.

We are getting our deck power washed and stained in time for graduation.  Wish we could have done it ourselves, but with my arm and no time, we hired it out. $$$  Does anyone else find something to fix, buy, or add to your home when you are having a special occasion?  It’s weird, but I do it every.single.time.

I guess that’s about all for now.  The weather has been so good, I’m finding myself not on the computer as much.  Posts may be a bit more spread out, which is a good thing, right?  We should all be out enjoying Spring, cause it’s finally here!

  1. Oh how exciting you have lots of good things going on in your life! We just got back from a trip and it was so nice to get away! My daughter is getting married next year too and I like how you set your timeline for weight loss. I need to do that too. I have not put on my UP band since vacation. Thanks for the reminder I need to put that back on.

I got the Fitbit One… and I LOVE IT! I’m going to lose weight even if it kills me LOL
Glad you like yours too :)

  3. I just happen to be renovating my entire house for OTHER people lol! I might not want to move once I get it all finished. I just hope it’s money well spent and that it will sell quickly next spring. No trees in flower around here yet :(

  4. Oh, my goodness YES!!! There is always something to upgrade when relatives come. Extra benefit this time is a new house very close to a fixer-upper. Luckily, floors and walls are done, but I have a feeling we will be doing something to living room, kitchen and outside area. Not sure what though.

Other than food, some picture and a toast – do you do anything special? My first graduation party, so I am not sure what the norm is for them!

  5. I’m the same way! It’s hard to stay in the house when everything is blooming outside :)

  6. I often fix something up for company, but I always enjoy it when they leave. I’m sure you will enjoy your clean deck all summer.
