Thank you so much to all who commented on my last post! I received so many great tips and ideas that I’m now confident that I.can.do.this!
I’ve decided what I want to serve for the entire weekend (thanks to you guys!) so I thought I’d share my menu.
Wednesday Evening (The night before Thanksgiving) Family arrives which makes 11 for dinner:
- Beef and Chicken Kabobs on Grill
- Tossed Salad
- Hot buttered rolls
- French toast casserole (made the night before)
- Sausage & Bacon
- Juice, coffee
Thanksgiving: (20 for dinner!)
- Roasted Turkey and Ham
- Stuffing (2 kinds)*
- Green Beans (2 kinds)*
- Carrot Casserole*
- Sweet Potatoes*
- Creamed Corn*
- Cranberry Sauce
- Mashed Potatoes*
- Pies: Banana Creme, Pumpkin, and Apple*
- Red Velvet Cupcakes*
All asterisks indicates what others are bringing. I’m basically responsible for the turkey, ham and cranberry sauce! (I made out in this deal. !)
Thanksgiving Evening: (15)
- Popcorn for a movie
Friday (Baby Shower!) The baby shower will be from 2 – 4. We expect about 30 people.
- Egg Bake w/sausage
- Fresh fruit
- Baked Sandwiches
- Cold Cut Subs
Baby Shower: (30 – 35)
- Fruit platter
- Veggie platter
- Chips and dips
- Cake & Coffee
(Men are invited into our basement for college football, footlong subs, chips, beer and soda)
- Egg Plant Parmesan (2 trays made ahead and frozen)
- Meatball Subs (Meatballs made ahead)
- Pizza (Dough made ahead)
- Tossed Salad
Saturday: Baptism! (Baptism is at 2:00 and we will have big brunch BEFORE)
Brunch: (25) Buffet style
- Scrambled Eggs/Egg Bake
- Sausage and Bacon
- Hash Browns
- Macaroni & Cheese (made ahead)
- Cold Cuts
- Fresh Fruit
- Muffins/Bagels/Cream Cheese
Dinner: (35 – 40 people) Dinner will be at 5:00 AFTER baptism.
- Catered Chinese Food
- Coffee, wine, beer, soda
Sunday: (Most of my company will be leaving in the a.m.)
- Bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, cereal
Lunch & Dinner? You guessed it.
Writing it all down somehow makes it easier. I know what I have to prepare and buy. I have to start now so it won’t be a huge shocker to the wallet. Freeze ahead meals, muffins, etc. will be my lifesaver.
