I’m home now. I can’t believe how fast the last 5 days have gone! I already miss my little pumpkin!
He was sitting on my lap just 10 short hours ago! Sigh. I will get to see him again around Thanksgiving, and I can’t wait!
Now that I’m home it’s time to get down to some financial business. It’s been such a flurry of activity in my home since June/July. So much money has been spent on home improvements that it’s completely obliterated our 2013 budget and our savings. I’m in the process of formulating 2014′s budget now, which will focus primarily on savings and college.
But first there are a few goals I want to accomplish before the new year starts.
- Save 10% of all income that comes in before the end of the year. This should bump up our emergency savings a bit.
- Pay off furniture. We owe a little more on our new furniture because we took a small loan (no interest for 12 mos.) We will have it completely paid for by December.
- Reduce regular expenses before January. I really really really want to lower some of my ‘every’ month bills, including our cable, telephone, electric and gas bills. This will be a work in progress.
- STAY ON BUDGET FOR CHRISTMAS. Easier said than done. I tend to overspend on this holiday, however, I would rather see some cash in savings than too many gifts under the tree.
That should keep me busy for a while.
Do you have any financial goals you want to set before the end of the year?
